"Hi Monica, I am at U of T and do advising for students who are pregnant, plus run a parents group and an expectant & new moms group. I would also welcome resources etc. Where are you located? Some of the resources are local ones. Best, Maria"

Welcome to the Student Parents Support Network!

Greetings and welcome! This space is for connecting with one another – for student parents, researchers, and student services personnel – and for advocating for student parent research and supports. Student parents, please post about the joys and challenges of being a student parents and share your tips and hints for success. Researchers, please talk about your research projects, questions you might have in developing or doing research in this area, seek out collaborations, and share your results. Student services personnel, please share innovative practices and programs and solicit advice about how to meet the needs of student parents at your institutions.

With your input this initiative will grow. It is my hope that this network will contribute to an enhanced awareness of the needs of student parents, more research into how to support student parents’ success, and ultimately an increased number of (evidence-based!) supports for student parents being offered by both institutions and governments.

At the same time, it has been my experience that student parents often feel alone on their respective campuses. I strongly believe that finding out that there are other student parents and having the opportunity to share experiences, frustrations, and ideas can act as a great support to student parents’ success. So I hope that this site can provide this type of support as well.

Please invite new members who might be interested in participating. Membership for this site is open so that anyone who is interested can be invited or sign up; however, please note that new members have to be approved so that we don’t have a spam issue on the site.
